About the event
Beyond imposed caricatures of God, can we enquire into the heart of the divine in our lives with openness and courage? Seeing into the heart of reality requires from us "a condition of complete simplicity, costing not less than everything" ( T S Eliot). With an innocent mind and receptive heart, we embark on a contemplative adventure into our being and beyond. The contracted afflicted state of our conditioned mind catalyses us to prayerfully seek true freedom and peace.
The incarnation or "becoming flesh" of God in Christ Jesus is not only an epochal event in history but a living spiritual reality in our being. Heaven and earth meet in the person-event of Christ who became human so that we could become divine in Him. The death of Jesus on the cross actualises the divine exchange of annihilation for life, darkness for light, falsity for truth, condemnation for forgiveness, despair for hope, delusion for enlightenment, brokenness for wholeness, guilt and shame for righteousness and reconciliation.
The gospel of grace in Christ invites us to "face change, move through suffering, receive joy, and mature in service" (Alexander John Shaia). We unlearn distraction and busyness, learn to let go of self-occupied striving and self-acquired merit, and relearn the unforced cadence of grace in our lives by returning and resting in pure aware being: silent yet vibrant, loving and kind. In that open silence and open presence, we receive the inbreaking grace of Christ that sets us irrevocably free from bondage and heals our ruptured relationship with God. We enter into dynamic communion dance of love in the triune Life and Being of God.
