Seeking Security, Finding Suffering

As fragile selves, each of us seeks security. As vulnerable nations, a neurotic collection of insecure selves, each seeks security. Russia. America. Europe. NATO. All the same. All seeking security. All craving security.

From craving, grasping. From grasping, clinging. From clinging, self-making. From self, division. From division, conflict. From conflict, destruction. From destruction, suffering. From suffering, more craving. From craving, more grasping. From grasping, more clinging. From clinging, more self-making. From self, more division. From division, more conflict. From conflict, more suffering. From suffering, more destruction. Samsara.

Actions stemming from this samsaric cycle will always be part of the problem. For such actions emanate not from wisdom that sees broadly and deeply, but from delusion that sees narrowly and myopically—the entire cycle of contingent-conditioning in samsaric consciousness.

Wars can be of different kinds: military incursions; sanctions; media propaganda; even repressed conflict and passive aggression. There is no way to peace, peace is the way (Thich Nhat Hanh). We continue to be trapped in war. War can never end save in the absolute ending of division, time, space, and self.
