About the event

Dzogchen or the Great Perfection (大圆满), widely seen as “pinnacle” of the Buddhist path to enlightenment within Tibetan Buddhism, has universal appeal and application. In this teaching series, I will offer core teachings and practices of Dzogchen in terms of the ground, path, and fruition of the Great Perfection, focusing on the Dzogchen path's distinctive view, meditation, and way of life.


Avoiding both loose laxity and compulsive striving, we will explore ways of settling the body, speech, and mind in their natural states, resting within the view of pristine awareness (rigpa). We will explore the four key phases of Dzogchen meditation: (1) calm abiding (shiney or shamatha); (2) deep insight (lhagtong or vipashyana); (3) cutting through (tekcho); and(4) direct crossing-over (togal). Common and uncommon preliminary practices that ripen the mindstream for Dzogchen will be explicated.
