I offer a koan for our Chan/Zen inquiry in light of the Gospel of Christ, who is the Alpha and the Omega—the primordial ground and subversive fulfilment of all Dharma:
Not One, not Two
What is it?
Gospel makes Dharma possible
Dharma makes Gospel practicable.
No Gospel, no buddha nature.
No Dharma, no Gospel embodied.
If all returns to One
Where does One return to?
Not One, not Two
What is it?
不一亦不二
那是什么？
福音立法
法现福音
無福音，即無佛性
无法如，即無福音体
若万理归一
一归何处？
如不一，如不二
那是什么？
Is the suchness of all creation and phenomena not the suchness of the triune Being of God? If not, how can God ever relate to creation? If so, how is God not conflated with creation?
