The YouTube video animation with URL listed at the bottom of this post shows the spiritual dynamics of the cross in a way that brings it close to our hearts. It was a potent moment for me in my own faith encounter with the Lord. No one could accomplish what Jesus did. No one except the Incarnate Son who is fully God and fully man. No one else in history fits the bill for they are all only human, not Divine; created, not the Uncreated. Christ is singular in world salvation history.
In Buddhist terms, this was the all-perfect, all-supreme, all-accomplishing “giving and taking” (tonglen) executed and finished once and for all, for all humanity and creation, throughout all time and space. It was not merely a meditative exercise of visualised altruistic compassion. It was truly 1,000,000,000% real and effectual. All authentic spiritual personalities and practices are but refracted partial glimmers of the Christ-reality at best. No one else could truly save like Jesus. All their teachings and goals are ultimately and subversively fulfilled in Christ, who alone is Lord.
